The Role

We have an exciting opportunity for an experienced Dentist to work Part Time at our medical centre in the Castlemaine region of Victoria. The role of the Dentist will be primarily responsible for the provision and supervision of dental care to prisoners, will provide dental input to clinically related matters and evaluate dental programs and services.

This position reports directly to the on-site Health Services Manager, with professional accountability to the Chief Medical Officer. Requirements include a mature outlook and sound interpersonal skills that enable appropriate communication with patients in a correctional environment; the ability to provide appropriate diagnosis and treatment, and the ability to work collaboratively with nursing staff, under minimal supervision.  

The Person

While previous experience in Correctional Health is not essential as we will provide training, the successful applicant will be required to have:

  • Qualified Dental Practitioner with current registration with the Australian Health Practitioner Regulation Agency (AHPRA)
  • Intermediate to advanced PC skills, including word processing and spread sheet applications and other data bases as required
  • Professional written, oral and verbal communication skills, including computer literacy
  • Current Victorian driver's license
  • Current First Aid certificate
  • Flexible and resilient to changing health environment
  • Willing and able to build rapport with working team
