Senior Occupational Therapist, Maternity Leave Locum Extension

Purpose of Position

The focus of occupational therapy services is primarily on enhancing the daily living skills of individuals with complex brain injuries in home and community environments, and to a lesser extent with residents in the TLU. The Community Rehabilitation Team (CRT) and TLU use a role-based, client and family focused framework that is culturally sensitive, with rehabilitation goals developed on a collaborative consultative basis with clients and their families and other rehabilitation team members. Client and family strengths as well as difficulties are recognized.

Selection Criteria

Current unrestricted NSW driver's licence

Evidence of engagement in continuing professional education and quality management activities relevant to adults with brain injuries & their families

Qualifications in Occupational Therapy recognized by the Council of the Registration Boards (COTRB), and a certificate of practical completion from COTRB if entry-level qualifications not gained in Australia, and eligibility for full practicing membership of Occupational Therapy Australia Ltd

Evidence of effective skills working independently and as a member of a multidisciplinary team

Demonstrated use of an evidence-based practice approach to occupational therapy practice with adults with brain injuries & their families

Evidence of significant graduate experience working with adults with brain injuries & their families in home and community settings

Evidence of significant graduate experience (minimum of 3 years) and advanced skills in the occupational therapy management of adults with traumatic brain injuries and their families

Evidence of effective written and verbal communication skills in health care organisations
