Te Toka Tumai,Auckland District Health Board have an excellent opportunity available for anexperienced social worker to join our Adult Health social work team.
We are a motivated,compassionate team who provide holistic social work services to patients andtheir families across a variety of inpatient and outpatient healthsettings.
We are looking for anexperienced practitioner with a proven ability to model best practice and to supportthe wider adult health social work team. Rigorous psycho-social assessment skills and the ability to thinkcritically and develop client centred appropriate client centred interventionsis a key part of this role.
Your social work rolewill primarily be based in the inpatient areas at Auckland City Hospital. You will respond to a broad range ofreferrals including, loss, major life changes, decision making and counsellingaround end of life care, child protection, family violence intervention, and othercomplex social and medical situations.
You will have theopportunity to draw on your therapeutic skills as you support families throughgrief and loss alongside your broader social work interventions. Working from atrauma-informed, relationship-based practice approach, you will sensitivelyassess complex social situations and foster positive engagement with peoplefrom a wide range of cultures and backgrounds. A strong ability to advocate andwork holistically with whānau will be of benefit to you in this role.
Your strengths inestablishing and maintaining effective working relationships withinmulti-disciplinary and inter-agency teams will be essential to your success. Apassion for fostering a safe space for tangata whenua and tauiwi within thehospital context is welcomed.
You will be providedwith regular supervision and continuing professional development to enhanceyour capacity to engage in effective social work practice. You will receiveroutine and regular support from your Practice Supervisor, Clinical Leader andProfessional Leader to achieve excellence in practice.
- A recognised Social Work qualification
- Advanced communication skills
- An understanding of Tikanga Māori
- Evidence of registration with the New Zealand Social Workers’ Registration Board (includes provisional registration) and a current Practising Certificate
- Experience in Health Social Work, grief and loss, child protection and family violence intervention
- Strong cultural knowledge; capacity to work effectively alongside our diverse communities
