Thisis an exciting opportunity for an enthusiastic and dynamic Speech LanguageTherapist to join our friendly team on a permanent part time (0.8 FTE)basis.
Auckland CityHospital is one of the largest teaching hospitals in the country, providingspecialist, tertiary care to the population of Auckland and beyond. The Speech Language Therapy service providesassessment and management of communication and swallowing impairment to adultinpatients across the hospital. We havea staff of 9 working across the hospital. With strong links to both the Auckland and Massey University trainingprogrammes there are plentiful opportunities to engage in research and studenteducation. The team work togetherclosely in a supportive environment to provide a high quality service andstrive to constantly evaluate and improve the care we offer. We are looking for anexperienced Speech Language Therapist with at least two years’ experience and provenskills in the assessment and management of communication disorders and dysphagia,ideally through the use of videofluoroscopy and Fibreoptic EndoscopicEvaluation of Swallowing (FEES).
This position will beprimarily based in the Adult Allied Health department, providing specialistassessment and management planning in the adult population across all inpatientwards. You will be working alongside asupportive interdisciplinary team of physicians, surgeons, nurse specialists, physiotherapists,occupational therapists, dietitians, social workers and therapy assistants.
The Speech LanguageTherapy team at Auckland City Hospital currently provide regular videofluoroscopyclinics, a FEES service and regular input into tracheostomy weaning/managementthroughout the hospital.
Tobe successful in this role, you will have a Bachelor’s qualification in SpeechLanguage Therapy or equivalent, and will be eligible for NZSTA membership.
