Certified Level 4 Health Care Assistants (Casual) - ADHB Nursing and Midwifery Bureau

The Nursing andMidwifery Bureau at Auckland District Health Board (ADHB) is looking for NZQALevel 4 Certified Health Care Assistants (HCAs) to assist in the provision ofpatient care supporting patients, families/whanau and the healthcare teamacross all shifts Monday-Sunday.


Bureau employs over400 casuals, consisting of registered nurses, midwives, healthcare assistantsand mental health assistants. These casuals are utilised across ADHB to coverplanned and unplanned leave.  Theyprovide support where the acuity is high, provide expertise when needed or tocover in areas where recruitment needs have not been met.

Health Care Assistants work under the direction and delegation of registered nurses/midwivesor registered health professionals to support in the delivery of patient care andin maintaining a safe, pleasant and functional environment. To be successful inthis role you will need initiative, the ability to relate well to others andwork collaboratively within a team environment.

To be qualified for this role, you must have successfully completed the 12 weekManukau Institute of Technology’s (MIT) Health Support Assistance course or the12 week Unitec’s Health Care Worker course (both NZQA Level 4 qualification),post three years secondary schooling. You will also have a minimum of oneyears’ experience as a Health Care Assistant post qualification. You will haveproficiency in reading, writing, speaking English, and intermediate plus levelcomputer skills and be able to meet the physical demands of the role.

These casual positions work Monday to Sunday on an ‘as and when required’basis, so there are no guaranteed hours. You must be flexible towork a minimum of 3 shifts per week.  Hence, this position is not suitablefor those who are already working full time (40 hours/week) in other role andlooking for additional work.


Thehourly rate range from $17.71 to $20.45 plus 8% holiday pay, as per our collectiveagreement.
