Purpose of Position
To provide leadership, supervision and management of the Health Information and Records Service including participation in audits, monitoring data integrity and ensuring accurate data reports are available to support clinical and organisational decision making.
Tertiary Qualifications in Health Information Management (or equivalent) and eligible for full graduate membership of the HIMAA.
High level working knowledge of International Classification of Diseases and Health Interventions, including Australian Coding Standards.
Demonstrated experience in using and teaching the use of a Patient Administration System (eg. Cerner/iPM) and 3M Codefinder software and other coding resource materials.
Superior understanding of DRG’s and Activity Based Management and demonstrated ability to produce accurately highly complex coded clinical data whilst meeting throughput targets.
Excellent organisational, communication and problem solving skills with extensive experience in communication with clinicians on clinical coding matters together with demonstrated knowledge of privacy and confidentiality in the healthcare setting.
Demonstrated knowledge of legislation and policies relating to access to clinical information and developments/trends in health information management.
Proven ability to motivate and provide leadership and strategic direction to a team of professional and non-professional staff including the willingness and ability to cover all positions within the department when necessary to ensure seamless service provision with a strong commitment to customer service.
Current NSW Driver’s Licence or the ability to obtain one within three (3) months of appointment.
