Purpose of Position
To provide leadership, supervision and management of the Health Information and Records Service including participation in audits, monitoring data integrity and ensuring accurate data reports are available to support clinical and organisational decision making.
Tertiary Qualifications acceptable to the New South Wales Association of Medical Record Librarians or such other qualifications deemed to be equivalent.
Evidence of competencies for Advanced Clinical Coder as specified in the HIMAA Clinical Coder National Competency Standards and Assessment Guide –Advanced Clinical Coder or equivalent
Demonstrated experience in using and teaching the use of a Patient Administration System (eg. Cerner/iPM) and 3M Codefinder software and other coding resource materials
Superior understanding of DRG’s and Activity Based Funding and demonstrated ability to produce accurately highly complex coded clinical data whilst meeting throughput targets.
Excellent organisational, communication and problem solving skills with extensive experience in communication with clinicians on clinical coding matters together with demonstrated knowledge of privacy and confidentiality in the healthcare setting
Demonstrated knowledge of legislation and policies relating to access to clinical information and developments/trends in health information management.
Proven ability to motivate and provide leadership and strategic direction to a team of professional and non-professional staff including the willingness and ability to cover all positions within the department when necessary to ensure seamless service provision with a strong commitment to customer service
Current NSW Driver’s Licence
