Clinical Nurse Consultant/Specialist

Purpose of Position

Develop and Lead staff, patient safety and clinical risk initiatives across SWSLHD. Contribute to the development and implementation of an Integrated Quality/Risk Safety Management Plan Establish robust partnerships with both internal and external stakeholders to improve communication of safety, risk and quality related information to all organisational levels, in particular clinical teams and the point of care for service delivery Develop and lead models of Care initiatives that support a culture of safety   South Western Sydney Local Health District (SWSLHD) is focused on achieving our Vision of Leading Care, healthier communities.   All staff are expected to act as an appropriate and effective role model, promoting a culture that supports practices that reflect the NSW Health CORE values of Collaboration, Openness, Respect and Empowerment through demonstrated behaviors and interactions with patients, clients and employees.   The vision of SWSLHD Nursing and Midwifery Service is Compassionate Nursing and Midwifery Care Always, through leading effective workplace cultures that improve the patient experience.   The Clinical Nurse Specialist Grade 2 will provide safe, compassionate, quality, person centered care and work in collaboration with patients/families/carers and a multidisciplinary team to achieve identified goals and outcomes.

Selection Criteria

Current Authority to Practice as a Registered Nurse with Australian Health Practitioners Regulation Agency (AHPRA)- Division 1 Registered Nurse

Post registration qualifications in clinical/education or management fields and at least 3 years’ experience in the relevant field

Demonstrated knowledge and or experience of project management and its application in the clinical setting

Highly developed interpersonal, written and verbal communication, negotiation and problem solving skills including the ability to work in a consultative manner and negotiate with key stakeholders to ensure the objectives of the program are met

Demonstrated ability to work independently with minimal supervision and to work effectively within a collaborative team environment to manage projects in a timely manner

Demonstrated knowledge of and/or experience in initiating and implementing changes to improve clinical service delivery and outcomes through enhanced models of care, evidence based practice, practice development, and Transforming Your Experience Program.

Proven experience in the application of adult education principle and facilitation. With a working knowledge of the development, delivery, and evaluation of clinical education programs and projects within a large, diverse organisation

Current unrestricted Australian drivers licence (P2 Licence Acceptable) subject to obtaining NSW drivers licence within 3 months of appointment.
