Purpose of Position

To promptly and effectively deploy Ambulance resources in response to emergency calls and non emergency transports within a defined geographic area through the Computer Aided Dispatch System. Receive, accurately record and progress telephone calls relating to the business of the Ambulance Service, and requests for the provision of Ambulance services.

Selection Criteria

• Ability to manage and supervise with proven mentoring and leadership skills and the ability to coach and motivate a team by providing support, vision and direction

• A comprehensive knowledge of Control Centre call-taking and NSW Ambulance Operations incorporating a broad understanding of NSW Ambulance Standard Operating Procedures

• A sound understanding of Protocols, Pharmacologies and Procedures as applied by Paramedics

• A comprehensive understanding of CAD, database, spreadsheet and word processing software packages

• Excellent communication skills, both written and oral with the ability to work as a team member in a critical environment

• Effective decision making skills with the ability to solve complex problems and implement solutions in time critical situations

• Appropriate tertiary qualifications relevant to the position
