Speech Pathologist

Purpose of Position

To provide a high quality speech pathology service to inpatients, outpatients,   community clients and carers of the Hunter Valley Sector to ensure optimal health   outcomes for clients of the service.   This position is based at Muswellbrook campus but outreach to other sites within the   Hunter Valley Sector from the base is required.

Selection Criteria

Must hold a bachelor or post graduate degree in speech pathology which provides eligibility for membership of Speech Pathology Australia, or other qualification deemed equivalent by the employer.


Experience in diagnosing and treating paediatric and adult communication and swallowing disorders.


Demonstrated ability to work with complex situations as part of a multi-disciplinary team and apply professional and ethical boundaries.


Demonstrated understanding of Aboriginal cultural issues and demonstrated ability to apply this knowledge in the position.


Demonstrated high level verbal and written communication skills.


Demonstrated ability to analyse problems and apply a range of options to develop solutions.



Demonstrated understanding of the issues related to rural clinical practice in a community setting.


Current driver's licence (NSW eligibility) and the ability and willingness to travel for work purposes which may involve driving long distances.
