Purpose of Position
The position is responsible for providing a high quality Social Work service to inpatients and their families of Grafton Base Hospital. Position works collaboratively to provide consultation as part of the multi-disciplinary team; to lead clinical services, and clinical service improvement, maintaining high professional standards in accordance with the codes of the Australian Association Social Workers (AASW).
Bachelor of Social Work and eligibility for membership of the Australian Association of Social Workers
Demonstrated specialist knowledge and substantial experience in crisis and trauma social work, assessment, clinical case management, interventions, referral and advocacy
Demonstrated ability to plan, initiate and coordinate client care independently and operate effectively within a multi-disciplinary team.
Demonstrated understanding of the application of primary care practice, principles and the interface between acute, sub-acute and community based service provision.
Knowledge and understanding of Aboriginal social, cultural and economic issues; ability to be flexible and develop local responses to community needs; and cross cultural communication skills
Demonstrated high level understanding of Child Protection policies within the health system and demonstrated ability to apply in the workplace
Demonstrated high levels of communication (both orally and written) liaison, negotiation and computer skills
Valid unencumbered Driver’s Licence for use in NSW/Australia
