About the Unit
The Child Neuropsychiatry inpatient unit has 8 beds and is a state of the art, purpose-built facility housed in the new Monash Children’s Hospital. The unit will provide emergency admissions and planned assessment admissions for children with neurodevelopmental and psychiatric disturbance. The model of care is designed to admit the child with a parent / carer to provide greater opportunity for dyadic and family interventions to achieve better outcomes.
About the Role
This is an exciting opportunity for a Grade 2 Psychologist wanting to work in an innovative service with children, their families, and service providers. The role requires clinical experience and expertise to help create an inpatient culture and model of care that delivers exceptional care to children with neurodevelopmental and psychiatric disorders, and their families/carers. The Behavioural Clinician will provide expert behavioural assessments, reports and interventions and collaborate closely with the inpatient team and families/carers.
You demonstrate excellent clinical skills in working with children and families who are in distress and face complex issues. You are dedicated to promoting their health and well-being through evidence-based individual and family interventions. You are collaborative, adaptable and positive in your approach. You have experience in behavioural approaches in mental health care and knowledge of developmental psychiatry, autism, intellectual disability and other developmental disorders. You show interest and experience in research and evaluation and strive for service improvement.
