About the role

The Hospital Medical Officer (HMO) will assist the General Manager and Director of Clinical Services (DCS) in transitioning the High Dependency Unit (HDU) into a combined HDU/Coronary Care Unit (CCU).

Working with the DCS to ensure staff are appropriately skilled for the HDU/CCU, the HMO will provide medical assessment and clinical care to patients within the HDU/CCU, cardiac catheter laboratory, surgical, medical and palliative care units as required.

This is a full time permanent opportunity, working across both St Vincent's and St Luke's hospitals. Hours of work include 12 hour shifts over 4 days.

What you bring  

  • MBBS or equivalent 
  • Current registration with the Medical Board of Australia and AHPRA
  • Significant Post graduate clinical experience in intensive care and or A&E
  • Current proficiency in advanced cardiopulmonary resuscitation
  • Demonstrated ability to provide a multidisciplinary approach to assessment and management of critically ill patients
  • Excellent communication skills - both written and verbal
  • A professional attitude and flexibility with a preparedness to work after hours as required and negotiated according to the work schedule
