Where you'll be working


Bowral & District Hospital (B&DH) is a major Rural Hospital which provides a wide range of services, including general medical, obstetrics and gynaecology, paediatric, surgical, orthopaedics, ophthalmology, geriatric and emergency services.

Originally founded in 1889, Bowral & District Hospital has been serving the needs of its local population for over a hundred years. From a humble cottage hospital origin, the hospital has grown to a 94-bed facility offering a range of general and specialised services.

Part of the South Western Sydney Local Health District, Bowral has close links with a range of Sydney's teaching and referring hospitals including Liverpool, Fairfield, Bankstown and Campbelltown hospitals.

What you'll be doing

This position is part of the [insert facility, services or LGA] Nutrition & Dietetics Department.  The Dietitian Assistant assists in maintaining a high standard of nutritional care for all inpatients by obtaining and managing daily menu choices, interviewing patients for their food preference, supporting the Dietitians in monitoring of oral intake and liaising with Food Services on the day to day provision of meals to patients.

Selection Criteria

  • Certificate IV in Allied Health Assistance (Nutrition & Dietetics) or Certificate III AHA (Nutrition & Dietetics) or equivalent qualification or relevant recent experience working as a Dietitian Assistant in a hospital with a commitment to commence Certificate IV within 12 months.
  • Good current knowledge of nutrition and therapeutic diets
  • Good written and verbal communication skills, and customer relations skills and experience
  • Demonstrated understanding of the quality improvement process
  • Demonstrated ability to work individually and as part of a team
  • Good computer skills including experience using CBORD windows system
  • Knowledge and/or experience in malnutrition screening
