Purpose of Position

The Chief Pharmacist is responsible for the provision of a comprehensive pharmacy service to Queanbeyan Hospital and an outreach service to Yass Hospital. The incumbent will have accountability for the legal responsibilities required of a hospital pharmacist and compliance with the health service with NSW Health policies. The Chief Pharmacist will undertake a governance role for pharmacy services within the Queanbeyan Health Service with responsibility for the strategic advancement, implementation and maintenance of appropriate, timely and cost efficient delivery of pharmacy services. The Chief Pharmacist facilitates, supports and oversees the provision of pharmacy services in the Queanbeyan Hospital and reports to the General Manager on all matters pertaining to the formulary, quality of pharmacy services and medication safety as it affects the service and facility. Selection Criteria

1. Registered as a Pharmacist authorised to practise by the Australian Health Practitioner Regulation Agency (AHPRA).

2. Effective communication skills both oral and written.

3. Demonstrated knowledge of relevant legislation, policy and work practices relating to the practice of hospital clinical pharmacy.

4. Current motor vehicle driver’s license with the ability to travel for work purposes.

5.Demonstrated successful managerial and clinical experience in a hospital setting and understanding of clinical pharmacy practice within a patient centred care model.
