Clinical Nurse Consultant/Specialist

Purpose of Position

The CNC 1 in youth co-morbidity provides expert clinical knowledge within the Inner West First Episode in Psychosis Team. In addition to providing care coordination and targeted interventions for people with a first episode psychosis and drug health problems.  The CNC 1 will help provide guidance to the team on ensuring fidelity is achieved with the EIP model of care. The model of care for the First Episode in Psychosis Team has the following aims: To provide effective care during the critical early phase of illness this involves proactive engagement and initiation of clinical therapies. To reduce the duration of untreated psychosis, limit the impact of a first episode of psychosis, foster hope that recovery is possible and maximize the quality of life of consumers, carers and their families. To work in partnership with other agencies to provide psychosocial interventions aiming for maximal symptomatic and functional recovery and prevention of relapse. OUR VISION

Selection Criteria

Registered Nurse with AHPRA, minimum of five (5) years full time equivalent post registration experience, with experience in mental health speciality

Tertiary qualifications relevant to mental health medication management and relapse prevention, or relevant experience.

Understanding of and commitment to recovery oriented services and consumer involvement in service design, implementation and evaluation.

Demonstrated advanced skills in the comprehensive assessment and management of mental health consumers, including assessment, and individual and group interventions.

Demonstrated experience working with young people with complex needs including an understanding of current treatment approaches for young people with comorbid mental health and substance use problems

Demonstrated commitment to evidence based practice and experience implementing evidence based practices into service planning and evaluation of service changes.

Demonstrated clinical leadership including skills in supervision and consultancy support.

Demonstrated effective written and verbal communication skills, time management and computing skills, and current unrestricted NSW drivers licence (P2 licence acceptable).
